I hate having my picture taken, I’m just so used to being behind the camera. So why the pictures of me? Because I wanted to show you how awesome my wife is.

I’ve always admired my wife’s photography. In fact photography was one of the main things we had in common when we first got together. Lately though, she has really been blowing me away and here is just a little evidence. She is such an amazing person and she makes me a better person. If you know us, you probably know that we are pretty much polar opposites in a lot of ways, but I believe that’s what makes us so strong. I promise to have some more pictures of her on here soon. Oh and by the way, she comes with me to every wedding as my second shooter!

The city my wife works for puts this on every year. A lot of popcorn, games, candy, police dogs, and piñatas. But most of all, there’s a whole lot of kids. I love taking pictures of kids. For the most part they don’t mind having their picture taken. They have no problem showing their emotions and they are usually passionate about them. And last but not least they really know how to enjoy the simpler things in life. Not sure why we seem to forget those things as we get a little older but I’m pretty sure that when we really grow up we start to remember those things again.

It’s been a while since I’ve shared any personal work on here so I decided I needed to do something about it. Hence, Film Fridays! Every Friday (hopefully) I’ll be sharing some photos that I’ve shot on film and also some reasons about why I love it so much. Don’t worry, this isn’t some sort of film vs. digital debate. I obviously embrace both. I just want to show people that while film is no longer the most popular photographic choice, it is far from dead and there are plenty of reasons to give it another shot (pun intended).

So here’s my first reason and it’s the biggest one: It’s just plain beautiful. I won’t try to explain why it’s so beautiful in words but I’ll definitely try to convince you with pictures. Oh, and for anyone that’s interested this shot of my beautiful wife and daughter was taken on Fujicolor Pro 400h.

This was seriously one of the funnest birthdays I’ve ever been to. If only all birthdays could be this full of love and joy. Your first birthday is a pretty big deal though, so I’m glad Anna’s was so awesome. Thanks to Ara and Karina and their beautiful daughter Anna for letting me share in the celebration!

So the Dawes have two little girls that have two of the biggest personalities of any little people I’ve ever met. They are hysterical and I’m glad I get to see them every now and then since their mom is my wife’s cousin. Maybe is was the beautiful misty day on Bainbridge Island, or maybe it was just hanging out with the Dawes, or maybe I just love taking pictures of loving families. Whatever it was I had a great time.
